Warranty information from Mad Dog Computer Repair and Services

Warranties:

Mad Dog Computer Repair and Services is abbreviated as MDCRS in this page.  All services listed as being provided by MDCRS free are only provided free if you bring the covered item into the shop during MDCRS normal business hours.  On-Site service is available but you will be charged at our normal hourly rate for those services irregardless of whether the item was originally provided to you in our shop or at your location.  The duration of coverage shown on the invoice is based on the best information we have as provided by the manufacturer's website and/or product packaging.

URGENT NOTICE:  What Does a Warranty Not Cover?  A warranty (our's, manufacturer’s or distributor's) does not cover any problem that is caused by (a) accident; abuse; neglect; shock; electrostatic discharge; heat or humidity beyond product specifications; improper installation; operation; maintenance or modification; or (b) any misuse contrary to the instructions in the user manual; or (c) lost passwords; or (d) malfunctions caused by other equipment. These limited warranties are void if a product is returned with removed, damaged or tampered labels or any alterations (including removal of any component or external cover).  Warranties do not cover data loss – New or Used, storage devices can fail at any time.  We HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you back up the contents of your storage device to a separate storage medium (CD, DVD, flash drive, USB hard drive or online backup service) on a regular and frequent basis to prevent the disaster of a hardware failure from becoming a tragedy of the loss of all of your information (photos, music, documents, etc).  Also, consequential damages; incidental damages; and costs related to data recovery, removal and installation, software, software installation, Windows reloads, are not recoverable under warranties.

Data loss can occur at any time even without a hardware failure so MDCRS ALWAYS recommends that you backup (duplicate) your information frequently and keep that backup in a physically different location (safe, safety deposit box, relative's home, etc.)  Additionally, we recommend having multiple backup devices so that you can alternate between backup devices thus further reducing the chances of data loss.

 

Manufacturer Limited Warranties:

This item is covered by a manufacturer's limited warranty for the duration specified by the manufacturer.  If this hardware should fail due to causes covered in the manufacturer’s warranty (available from the manufacturer’s website) within 30-days of the invoice date, at no charge, MDCRS will replace/repair the hardware under the terms of the manufacturer’s warranty.  After the first 30-days from invoice date until the end of the manufacturer's warranty, you will be responsible for the labor required to replace the hardware and any costs related to complying with the manufacturer's replacement process (postage, insurance, etc.). 

Special note for purchasers of Western Digital Hard Drives:  By default, the warranty date for a Western Digital (WD) hard drive is calculated from the manufacture date.  However, with a copy of your invoice, Western Digital can update the warranty to calculate it from your purchase date. If you wish to have the warranty date updated to the purchase date, please follow the instructions below.
       
        1. Send WD an email from this link:

        2. Put in "Update warranty" in the subject line.
        3. Attach a picture or a scanned copy of your purchase receipt (jpg, jpeg, or gif formats only, max 500KB)
        4. Send the email.
        Once WD receives the email, WD will verify the information and update the warranty accordingly. You will receive a response from WD about the status of your email.

 

Distributor Limited Warranties:

This item is covered by a distributor's limited warranty for the duration specified by the distributor.  If this item should fail due to causes covered in the distributor's warranty within 30-days of the invoice date, at no charge, MDCRS will replace/repair the hardware under the terms of the distributor's warranty.  After the first 30-days from invoice date until the end of the distributor's warranty, you will be responsible for the labor required to replace the hardware and any costs related to complying with the distributor's replacement process (postage, insurance, etc.).   For service under the distributor limited warranty, you must contact MDCRS rather than the distributor directly.

 

If not otherwise detailed on your invoice, MDCRS Limited Warranties are as follows:

 

MDCRS New Custom Desktop Computer Limited Warranty:

Every new custom computer sold by MDCRS is covered by a 1-year from original invoice date In-Shop MDCRS Parts and Labor Warranty against operational equipment defects.  During this warranty, MDCRS will repair or replace, at its option, any failed hardware without charge to the purchaser when the computer is brought into our shop.  Replacement parts may be new, used or refurbished at the discretion of MDCRS and will  1) have comparable specifications to the part being replaced, and 2) be warranted to the end of the original warranty or 30-days, whichever is greater.  Failed parts being replaced under warranty become the property of MDCRS.  On-Site service is available at an additional charge.

 

MDCRS RECONDITIONED Computer Limited Warranty:

Every used computer sold by Mad Dog Computer Repair and Services (MDCRS) is covered by a 90-day from original invoice date MDCRS Parts and Labor Warranty against operational equipment failures except for batteries.  Laptop batteries are guaranteed to power the laptop for at least 1 hour for the 1st 30-days from invoice date. During this warranty, MDCRS will repair or replace, at its option, any failed hardware without charge to the purchaser when the computer is brought into our shop.  Replacement parts may be new, used or refurbished at the discretion of MDCRS.  Non-functional defects/failures (i.e. cosmetic defects, cracks, scratches, blemishes, noise and other defects not preventing use of the computer) and defects noted on the original invoice are not covered by a warranty.  

 

MDCRS NEW Part Limited Warranty:

This part is covered by a 30-day from the original invoice date MDCRS Parts ONLY Warranty.  If this part should fail due to normal use within 30-days of the invoice date, MDCRS will replace/repair the part at no cost, but all labor will be charged at regular rates to complete the replacement/repair.

 

MDCRS USED Part Limited Warranty:

This part is covered by a 30-day from the original invoice date MDCRS Parts ONLY Warranty.  If this part should fail due to normal use within 30-days of the invoice date, MDCRS will replace/repair the part at no cost, but all labor will be charged at regular rates to complete the replacement/repair.

 

MDCRS Services Limited Warranty:

All MDCRS on-site services are provided on an hourly basis without any guarantee or warranty that there will be a problem resolution within a specified time period.  If problems arise or recur after MDCRS on-site services, you will be charged at our standard hourly rates for addition time required to investigate/correct the reported problem.

All in-shop or remote services, except as noted below or as otherwise noted on the invoice, carry a 30-Day MDCRS Limited Labor ONLY Warranty.  Service warranties do not cover parts or changes to any of the software (System Restores, System Recovery, OS Re-installs, etc.) PERFORMED BY THE CLIENT after the service is complete. 

System Tune-Up and Malware Removal Services and Windows Reload Services:

Carry a 7-Day MDCRS Limited Labor Only Warranty.  Removal of any part of the MDCRS Free Anti-Malware Protective Suite OR failure to keep the programs updated OR changes to any of the software (System Restores, System Recovery, OS Re-installs, etc.) PERFORMED BY THE CLIENT after the service is complete, VOIDS the entire warranty.

SYSTEM TUNE-UP AND MALWARE REMOVAL SERVICES ONLY:  If the warranty is not voided as specified directly above AND the computer gets: 1) a new malware infection or the problem it came in with reappears within 7 days from the date on this invoice, a new Tune-Up service will be free or the fee paid for this Tune-Up can be applied towards any of our OS Reload Services.
